Heavy Rescue II
This course is delivered primarily at the local fire station. There is a maximum of 16 students for the hands-on sessions. The host Department is required to designate a course facilitator who is responsible for coordinating with the Fire Academy Instructor, insuring that all equipment and training resources are available. Attendance at lectures must precede all hands-on classes. The following topics are covered: elevator emergencies (Department must have access to an elevator), meters, their proper use and understanding of their readings, heavy rigging (Department must have a winch, grip hoist, air bags), thermal imaging camera (Department must have), advanced extrication on buses and trucks and auto extrication. There is a written final and skill evaluation done.
